The personal information we collect is limited to information related to and needed for the conduct of our operations and/or fulfil commitments to you and fulfil our legal obligations. Biogen may be able to provide individuals with the option of not identifying themselves, or using a pseudonym when entering transactions when it is lawful and practicable to do so. However, we will not always be able to do this and in such cases, if you do not provide personal information, Biogen may not be able to provide services or information to you, or enter commercial engagements with you. We may have access to the following categories of personal information about you and only some of this information is Personally Identifiable Information that could identify you directly, but each category may offer some information about your interests and activities that could be used to make inferences about you.

We have access to the following types of information about you, when you visit this Site:

  • Site registration. Biogen has constructed this Site so that you may visit us and review information about the services and products we offer without revealing your identity or volunteering any personally identifying information. If you choose to register to use Biogen features and services, either as a consumer or a healthcare professional, we will collect "personally identifying information" from you, such as that indicated above. When this information is combined with any information on your health or medical status, we refer to the resulting information as "health-related personal information."

  • Purpose. When Biogen collects your personal information we will take reasonable steps to advise you of what personal information we are collecting, the purposes for which we are collecting the information and will use such information only for stated primary or related secondary purposes. Such purposes may include monitoring our regulatory compliance, compiling profiles and personal information about you in order to identify suitable education/awareness programs, or suitable opportunities to collaborate with you or obtain services from you. In the case of healthcare professionals, such purposes may include sending you promotional material or newsletters from time to time, that we think may be of interest to you but we will provide you with an option not to continue to receive such information.

  • Disclosure. Biogen will advise you of the organisations (or types of organisations) to which we may normally disclose that personal information, and we will provide you with contact information in the event you would like access to your personal information we hold about you or need to update your personal information or preferences. Biogen will not disclose your personal information except in accordance with this Policy, if required by law, to fulfil a contract with you, or where we otherwise have your express consent.

We also reserve the right to cooperate with law enforcement authorities in investigating and prosecuting users who violate our rules or engage in behaviour that is illegal or harmful to individuals or the personal information we are responsible for.

  • Product reports. If you contact us regarding your experience in using one of our products, we may use the information you provide as necessary in submitting complaint or adverse event reports to local and international health or pharmaceutical regulators, and as otherwise required of us by law. We also may use the information to contact the prescribing physician to follow up regarding an unexpected event involving use of our product.

We also analyse the information collected with cookie technology to help us improve the functioning of the Site by monitoring traffic in popular areas and to modify the services and information we provide to meet customer demand. We will link the clickstream data available to us through the use of cookies to the personally identifying information and health-related personal information that you may choose to provide elsewhere on the Site. We use the information we collect through the use of cookies for our business purposes, including operation of the Site, as well as research and product analyses to help us better develop and market our products. We do not allow other sites or third parties to use our cookies for their own purposes or to place their own cookies on your computer when you access services through the Site.
Vendors and Suppliers. We may from time to time have relationships with different vendors and suppliers who help us design and maintain our systems and our computer security, respond to email and customer enquiries, and create special promotions. We will not authorise our vendors and suppliers to use our customer information for any purpose not related to our business.

OUR RELATIONSHIP TO THIRD PARTIES:

We may use third parties to provide services and information and we may provide some co-branded services in partnership with others. We also may use third parties to host and analyse data collected in the course of our normal business operations or on this Site. We may disclose your data to the extent that we reasonably believe it is publicly available to third-parties providing open-source data services (containing publicly available information) for the purpose of ensuring that your information remains up to date. We will not disclose your personally identifying information or sensitive health-related personal information to anyone other than our employees and those third parties with whom we have a business relationship. If we allow a third party contractor to have access to your personal information or sensitive health-related personal information, they will only be permitted to take it or use it for purposes that are consistent with this Privacy Policy. We pledge that we will not disclose or sell your personal information or sensitive health-related personal information, to an unrelated third party without your express permission or otherwise in accordance with this Privacy Policy, except that we may partner with other companies to provide you with content or services on a joint or "co-branded" basis. At a co-branded site you will see both the Biogen logo and the logo of the co-branded partner displayed on your screen. To access the services available on a co-branded site you may have to complete an online registration form, and this registration information may be shared with our co-branded partners. You should read the individual privacy policies of the co-branded sites, as these may differ in some respects from ours. Reading these policies will help you to make an informed decision about whether to provide your information to a given site. Remember, you may always opt-out of sharing your information with a partner site by choosing not to use the service or content provided by the co-branded site.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THIRD PARTIES:

  • Links to other sites. Biogen websites may also feature links to websites that we believe you might find useful and informative. We encourage you to be aware of and read the Privacy Policy of each site you visit. Remember, the statements in this Privacy Policy apply solely to information collected by Biogen.

  • Advertisers. We do not permit advertisers to display their advertisements at the Site, and we will not permit third party advertising servers to use cookies to collect information from users at the Site.

DISCLOSURES AND TRANSFERS

We do not disclose an individual's personal data to third parties, except according to applicable Privacy Laws and when one or more of the following conditions is true:

  • The disclosure is required by law, legal process or mandatory professional standards
  • The disclosure is reasonably related to the sale or other disposition of all or part of our business

  • The disclosure is reasonably necessary for the establishment of legal claims
  • The disclosure is to another Biogen entity or to persons or entities providing services on our or the individual's behalf (each a "transferee"), consistent with the purpose for which the information was obtained, if the transferee, with respect to the information in question:
    • is subject to law providing an adequate level of privacy protection; or
    • has agreed to provide an adequate level of privacy protection.

Permitted transfers of personal data, either to third parties or within Biogen, include the transfer of data from one jurisdiction to another, and may include transfers to and from Australia, New Zealand, the United States, EEA and Singapore. Site users should be aware that it is not technologically possible to remove from our servers each and every record of the information you have provided to Biogen. The need to back-up our systems to protect information from inadvertent loss means that a copy of information about you or your health-related interests may exist in a non-erasable form that will be difficult or impossible for us to specifically locate.
